I make functional pottery out of a proto-porcelain that I’ve designed and make inhouse at the studio. I incorporate local raw materials which creates a unique chemistry between myself, the clay, and glaze; be it wood ash from the fireplace or rock dust from the quarry.
Formal decisions & discovery within the work, as well as aesthetical choices have developed over twenty plus years of potting. The work has evolved in many parallel paths some more dominate than others at times; routed in
process/material, food, function/utility, culture and history with ergonomic pursuits and functional biases always in the background.
